Struck by Dr. Dog lyric There’s nothing to keep you from falling in Love, Series 13 is an exploration into the chaotic, often dual nature of falling into romantic love. How true love conscripts an inherent merging between another’s world and your own, to the effect of crowning or crucifying.
Like the twisting of a kaleidoscope, there is a total disruption of the world you only just inhabited. Whether it be to the rise or fall of the roller coaster, you are strapped in with no way off until the ride itself ends.
With so few safeguards, love can at times truly come from nowhere and you are left to deal with any myriad of consequences. And yet, there’s nothing to keep you from falling in love.
J.o.H graduated from the Barcelona Academy of Art, received classical training from the Academy of Fine Art Germany, studied under the accomplished illustrator Thomas Fluharty, and has exhibited work in the United States, Germany, and Spain.
Currently based out of Barcelona, J.o.H’s latest work has primarily focused on exploring space beyond a strict adherence to the academic. A blending of realism and the abstract. It shows how our experience of the objective world is often neatly floating on the surface of the chaotic abstractions of the mind. Abstractions which bubble with alluring colors or plunge deep into still darkness. It is the relationship of the inner and outer world.
